Packaging Designer, I provided technical assistance, design support and prototype construction to the sales and marketing staff. Serviced local and national accounts (Wal-Mart, Heinz, S.C. Johnson, and Red Gold) and developed new container packaging designs for the Crawfordsville, IN manufacturing plant. Additional responsibilities included creative POP displays, fabrication of packaging samples, creation of spec. drawings and sample processing. Consumer plumbing, kitchen and bath products (Delta Faucet, Peerless Products, Aqua Glass, Damixa, Hans Grohe). Initially hired as a Draftsman and promoted to Sr. Product Designer in new product development. Design challenges involved consumer faucet and water closet (toilets) and testing, supplier communication, faucet fabrication and design evaluations, automated fastener research, design for assembly (DFA), prototype development and product testing. Typical processes involved cast, die-cast, stamped and machined metal components, ceramic materials, electroplating of various metals and plastics, developing fabricated assemblies, injection molding of engineered plastics, rubber and elastomers. Phillips-Lau Inc., Industrial Fan Division Industrial fans, ventilation and HVAC systems. Engineering Draftsman, created prototype drawings, sheet metal fabrication and welded assembly details of fan-motor assemblies. Initiated, developed and constructed a long-term paint and coatings corrosion evaluation-testing program to help reduce costly product returns due to inferior painting processes.
